The Story Behind "When We Were Young"
 
It was only yesterday when I reminded my friend of the adventure we shared. 
 
When the garden was a jungle and the tree house a den. Bike rides were far and our clothes didn't really fit, except Sunday best, which definitely didn't. Library books were incredible. The TV was rented and the transistor radio crackled. 
 
Grandma's kiss was always sloppy and wet, and mothers shopping endlessly slow. 
 
Dad’s car seats were massive and the journey's long. The hills were frighteningly steep, and I Spy went on for hours. Caravan holidays were wet, but a break from school who's building was huge and scary. 
 
Rain or shine, we went out to play. When the day dimmed, it was time for home. Chocolate sweets tasted like heaven and the dinner plates were full. 
 
The nights were dark, but the bed was warm. As we fell asleep, I reminded my friend and he remembered it too .....….. when we were young.
