The Story Behind "The Wait"
 
To wait. 
 
How many times did miners wait for news of colleagues stuck underground, families wait for fathers, husbands, and sons to come home, and communities wait for news of impending closures? 
 
A common sight in the South Wales Valleys where life was hard and short, and the very soul of the mineral pulled from the ground embedded itself in the grooves and cuts of the skin of each miner who wore the discolour with pride as they too in time, took their turn to wait.
