The Story Behind “The Day the Village Stood Still”

He reached down once more, his back aching from days of digging, his hands ripped to shreds from the sense of urgency that encased the whole of the village. An outsider, but a welcomed one, as the hours rolled into days, and days etched into memories.

A glint of a reflection caught his eye as he pulled an object from beneath the bricks and dirt. Brushing the black slurry from its face, he froze. It stared back into his soul.

A moment caught by time. The hands at rest, their movement lost, quietened by the sudden impact. He raised it to the sunlight.

09:13. The day the village stood still.
