The Story Behind “From the Darkness …. Part Two”

From the darkness they emerge, their hands carrying the remnants of a world hidden deep beneath the earth. Blackened by generations of labour, the coal sits heavily between their fingers, a reminder of the struggle and sacrifice that lies beneath every flame.

The heat of the fire burns behind them, casting an angry glow across weathered skin and hardened hands. Each piece of coal tells its own story, torn from the darkness through strength, determination and countless hours spent beneath the ground, where danger was never far away.

For generations, these hands have reached into the earth and brought its riches into the light. Coal became warmth in the home, power in the industry and a means of survival for families who depended upon the men who worked beneath the surface.

But there is something more than coal held within these hands. There is history, resilience and memory. These are the marks of a way of life forged in darkness and carried forward into the light.

From the darkness, they brought the fire.
